PGP Key

Okay: latest update on my private key. Unfortunately it was on a server which was destroyed by recent flooding in our region. However, I had backups of all of my previous keys and thus I was able to backdate the system clock and sign my new key with all my old keys so as to establish a chain of plausible identity. This key is 0xADC6091F and in a few months I will sign a new key with it, and retire it due to the admittedly fraudulent creation date (the only way I could think of to prove identity). The key was actually generated close to 201609012330Z. My departure from using DSA/RSA to DSA/ElGamal can be read as deliberate too. I no longer trust 4096-bit RSA keys – a crypto nut who has clearances that are far greater than mine basically said that RSA is broken. How he did not divulge, but it makes sense for me not to use something I’ve been specifically warned about.

My public key is included below, and is also on the key servers. Please do not send e-mail to me in cleartext. For some degree of pseudonymity I am using a “free” mail provider for this account. We know that almost all of these webmail services are in cahoots with intelligence agencies and that cleartext messages are without doubt intercepted. In the interests of avoiding unsolicited mail I have not included my address on this page. Given I do not and will not accept nor respond to unencrypted email the inconvenience of importing the key block below to obtain my address should be minimal.

I only issue my public keys for a period of a fe years for a variety of reasons, but sign my new key with the old key. This way, you can walk your way right back to the initial ‘genesis’ key and see that the same individual has been involved throughout all re-keyings. Remember that I will always sign the new key with the old one to maintain the chain back to the original key [except in the instance of the loss of D07C3352] (in this instance it looks like 6054D4D2 → B7A04065 → 6054D4D2 → D07C3352 (lost) → ADC6091F, in ascending order; that is to say, oldest keys first).

All keys are published here and are also on the MIT servers. Should any key at any point be suspected of being compromised the revocation certificate will be pushed to the key servers and a notice placed on this site. By design, I keep no backup of my secret keyring and keep only a copy of the revocation certificate so this is my only recourse. All keys are included in the PGP block included below.

Remember that the output from gpg –fingerprint as shown below shows the oldest keys first. When corresponding with me, please ensure you download the currently used key (0xADC6091F) and ensure that you do not use any superseded keys in our correspondence. The ASCII armored PGP key block included below the fingerprint information includes all three keys. I’ve redacted my email address here to reduce the amount of unsolicited mail. If you must look up my email address but do not have gpg or pgp installed on your machine, find the MIT website and do a key search for my key and you will find it within the metadata.

Access to the free webmail account that I had used for the past several years was abruptly revoked after a DoS style attack whereby someone made a multitude of incorrect password attempts and Yahoo! demanded SMS verification – of course, given the business I’m in, the information provided to Yahoo was bogus so the account had to be burned. Fortunately I was able to sign a new key with the old, generate a revocation certificate, import it into my keyring and then export the revoked key out onto the key servers.
